Interior trends for autumn: your guide to textured fabrics

As summer slowly gives way to autumn, we’re increasingly heading back inside and reaching for soft, cosy comforts. Textured fabrics are good all year round but they really come into their own in the chillier months. They add depth, richness and warmth, creating a décor that you want to nestle into.

Chenille

Chenille, from the French word for caterpillar, is a fuzzy fabric that resembles a hairy caterpillar. It’s ultra soft, making it ideal for use on cushions and throws.

Bouclé

Bouclé is a highly-textured, bobbly fabric. The name derives from the French word boucler, which means ‘to curl’ or ‘to loop’. Bouclé is sometimes referred to as ‘teddy bear’ fabric, making a popular choice for occasional chairs and even bedding.

Velvet
